A classic American comfort food
The meatloaf has European origins; meatloaf of minced meat was mentioned in the famous Roman cookery collection Apicius as early as the 5th century. Meatloaf is a traditional German, Scandinavian and Belgian dish, and it is a cousin to the Dutch meatball.

Ingredients
- Ground beef - 2 pounds ground beef
- Bread crumbs - 1 cup
- Egg - 2 eggs
- Onion Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ketchup - 1 cup

Steps
- Preheat Oven - Preheat oven to 350°F. We will want to preheat the oven fully in order for best baking results.
- Prepare Ingredients - Using the knife and cutting board, chop up bread into crumbs. Measure out seasonings with the teaspoon. A dash here, a dash there, who's counting, right?
- Mix in a bowl - Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, eggs and seasonings in large bowl. Kneed thoroughly. Dont be afraid, get your hands in there and squish all those cold clammy slimy goo together. Make meaty faces out of it and show your Vegetarian wife.
- Shape Loaf - Shape into a loaf on shallow baking pan. If you are using a regular pan or glass baking dish use some non stick butter to coat the inside. Shape loaf and crease a furrow down the middle of the loaf.
- Add Ketchup - Pour the cup ketchup over top. Dont be stingy! Dump that tomato'y goodness all over the top of that spicy meat bomb. Toss some extra shakes of onion and garlic powder on the top for good measure.
- Bake - Bake 55 to 60 minutes or until cooked through. The top of the loaf will blacken a bit but thats ok at about the 40 minute mark. We like the crunchy's. Go back to your Xbox for a few more rounds. Wait for the timer to ding and then 1 more game round for good measure.
- Stand and Serve - Or not. Let stand 5 minutes before serving, or, because you are as hungry, cut that puppy in slices to cool quicker. Pile up some cold Ketchup, lather up a piece and proceed to burn your mouth with the lava hot meaty goodness.
